About Lottie Moon Celebrant

Hello! My name is Lottie, and I am completing training to become a celebrant. I am first focusing on weddings to take bookings from Spring 2025 onwards.

I will be the storyteller for your bespoke ceremony, crafting a unique service that perfectly reflects your personality and identity as a couple. Anything you wish to celebrate and commemorate can come true! Especially if like me you’re inspired by the wilds, mythology, spirituality, and geekiness. By choosing an independent celebrant, there are no limits to what I can create for your wedding ceremony or vow renewal. This could include handfasting, rituals, readings, songs, and more.

Being a queer woman myself, supporting LGBTQ+ folks will be a core part of my ethos. Everybody’s love and life are welcome here!

I am based in Yorkshire near Leeds, though I can travel across the UK.

Pronoun's: She/Her

Testimonial's

"We were really nervous about how the whole thing would feel, and we were still unsure about what we wanted to include in the ceremony, but we absolutely love the readings Lottie did. Although it wasn't something we'd come up with ourselves it still felt very personal.

Lottie made us feel really comfortable and a lot less nervous, we loved the handfasting and all the elemental parts. It really did feel so special"

FAQ's

Why choose an independent celebrant?

Choosing an independent celebrant means you have the freedom and flexibility to decide exactly what you want your wedding ceremony to look like, and where you want it to take place. Fancy pagan rituals like handfasting, jumping the broom, and a cake and mead ceremony in the middle of a forest? Or a sing-along with a guitar partway through? Having shots with your guests on a beach at sunset? Uncle Bill reading a poem whilst he’s dressed as a dinosaur immediately followed by the Lord's Prayer? A choreographed sword fight in a castle? The only limit is your imagination. As your celebrant it is my job to bring your ideas to life by getting to know you both, before writing and conducting your perfect ceremony. There’s no ‘cut and and paste’ work here!

How does it all work?

First, you’ll speak to me about the brilliant and magical ideas you want brought to life for your big day. Once all booked in and a date confirmed, we’ll meet and explore these plans further together. I’ll then write a draft ceremony script for you to review as needed until you’re happy with the final result.

On your wedding day my role is to make the ceremony stress-free and smooth for you. You are in a safe pair of hands and only need to think about getting ready whilst I make sure all props, music, and people are all organised and in the right place. I will only do one wedding per day giving you no strict time constraints. Anything else I can do to help, please just ask!

Can you legally marry couples?

At this present time in the United Kingdom, a ceremony conducted by an independent celebrant is not legally binding. If you want your marriage or civil partnership recognised in law, you will need to have a 2+2 ceremony at your local registry office and serve your notice at least 28 days before your celebrant ceremony. The 2+2 ceremony is simply signing legal documents in front of two witnesses – you can leave all the important, symbolic parts such as saying vows and exchanging rings to your celebrant-led ceremony. Alternatively, the paperwork part can be done after your wedding day, as long as it is completed within 12 months of notice being given. The advantage of a 2+2 ceremony means it keeps things lower cost (on average about £50) and you also do not need to pay the higher fees of a licenced venue. For commitment ceremonies and vow renewals, there is no legal requirement needed.
